W.O.W. Wednesday...Are you happy?

"Everyone you meet always asks if you have a career, are married, or own a house as if life was some kind of grocery list.  But no one ever asks you if you are happy."
~Heath Ledger

Happy Wednesday loves...I found this quote by Heath Ledger the other day and I am totally in love with its sentiment!  We get so busy in the niceties of life that sometimes we forget to ask the richer questions of one another.  When was the last time you, or someone else asked if you were happy?  When was the last time you really tuned into the energy of your life to the climate of your life?  When was the last time you put down your phone and really saw the person in front of you?

It's easy to ask the checklist of questions, but how would your relationships evolve if you asked of someones happiness?

Beautiful hearts...."Are you happy?"  I really want to know.  Share with me in the comment section below.

Talking About It Tuesday...The Story of the 2 Wolves

An old Cherokee Indian chief was teaching his grandson about life.

“A fight is going on inside me,” he told the young boy, “a fight between two wolves.

One is evil, full of anger, sorrow, regret, greed, self-pity and false pride.
The other is good, full of joy, peace, love, humility, kindness and faith.”

“This same fight is going on inside of you, grandson…and inside of every other person on the face of this earth.”

The grandson ponders this for a moment and then asks, “Grandfather, which wolf will win?”

The old man smiled and simply said, “The one you feed.”
Happy Tuesday beautiful hearts!  My Yoga teacher shared this Cherokee tale with our class last evening, and I was again reminded how important it is to honor these two wolves within.  We always say in our Yoga practice that the real Yoga begins when you step off of the mat.  It's the Yoga of being kind to oneself, and practicing nonviolent ways of being in the world.  It's about carving out time to practice self care and reflection.  It's about remaining connected even when it seems easier to disconnect.  It's about knowing that these awarenesses are always a choice.

Even if you are not a Yogi, how are you showing up in your life?  Are you looking over your shoulder in regret or anger?  Have you become greedy in your relationships?  Or are you overflowing with loving practices and kindness?  Faith that even if you can't see you will keep planting the seeds with the knowing that a harvest is on its way.

Perhaps this tale reminds us that we are all in this world together and that at any given moment the choice is up to us....we can feed the wolf that is full of sorrow, regret and greed, or we can feed the wolf that is full of joy, peace, and love.  Feel free to comment below and let me know your thoughts about bringing this tale into your life.

Monday Musing...An Invitation from Fear.

Happy Monday beautiful hearts!  Head over to our sister site to check out our latest blog post at Cool Creative Press!  Today we delve into our relationship with fear and notice our stance with this primal companion.  Instead of denying this informative guest, how can we use fear as an instrument of curiosity?  How can fear inform us of our potential to grow?  When is it appropriate to make a deeper inquiry into our fears?

“Do one thing every day that scares you.”
― Eleanor Roosevelt
.....In the midst of saying a hearty YES to living, we are bound to meet mountaintops of uncertainties, pockets of prejudices, and blustery emotions throughout our journey.  We are after all human.  We can view our lives through the lens of fear, or the lens of love.

I think it equally important to honor and acknowledge those moments of life when it does feel scary and primal to move forward.  What do you think?  Perhaps it is in this acknowledgement that we diffuse and create connection.  Perhaps in these moments we touch our fears and make space for them.

I am reminded of this interplay between love and fear as I remember an invitation to go on a trail ride with a dear Yoga teacher and friend, Uma.
As we approached the horse ranch, I could feel the twinges of fear dancing with excitement in my chest.  Beneath my heart I felt the flutter of butterflies mixing with this novice dance partner.  My breathing became shallow and I melted into a hamster wheel of thoughts.....

“The outer conditions of a person's life will always be found to be harmoniously related to his inner state...Men do not attract that which they want, but that which they are.”
― James Allen

Happy Wednesday beautiful hearts!  I am loving this classic quote from James Allen.  It reminds me to continually 'do my work' and become the watcher of my life and thoughts.  By being the watcher, I can notice where I get tripped up.  I can also begin to transform the 'shadow' parts of self.  We all have these shadow parts, so don't be alarmed.

I can wish for things to be other than they are all day long, but at the end of the day, my vibe attracts my tribe.  The energy I am exuding creates connections, relationship, and experiences that enable me to grow!

As we move towards the end of January, are you creating harmonious conditions for 2018?  And if you answered no, what can you do differently to bring about that which you desire?

May you move forward in compassion and grace as you create your most amazing life!

May You Sweetly Seek:)

Friday Favorites...The Guest House

The Guest House
This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.

A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.
Welcome and entertain them all!

Even if they are a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.

He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.
The dark thought, the shame, the malice.
meet them at the door laughing and invite them in.

Be grateful for whatever comes.
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.

W.O.W. Wednesday...How do you know?

Happy Wednesday beautiful hearts!  I was talking with a friend yesterday about taking the eternal "LEAP" into their hearts desires.  As we sat enjoying a cup o' joe, she shared how timid she was about stepping into her gifts.  We shared, we laughed, we cried.  It felt good to share our fears and to honor that sometimes our LEAPING off point is not always comfortable.  In fact, sometimes its downright scary!

It's easy to live in the land that we know, but what a ride to take off into the land of the unknown?!  Can you relate in your own life?  How does one know when to jump?  When to bet all of your chips?  When to say, YES I WILL DO THIS!!!???  I don't think it's about being ready, I think it is about saying YES!!!

There is no way that we can know how the story will unfold, but isn't it better to be in the story than sitting on the sidelines wondering?  I'm at a juncture of my life that I want to be involved in the game!  I want to slide into home plate.  I desire to hit my dreams outta the park!  I can't wait to keep creating and saying YES!!

Share with me below in the comments how you are saying YES in your life!  Are you LEAPING into 2018?  And if your not, are you willing to take baby leaps to get you to the next stage?

Cheers to the journey my friends!
In Gratitude,
Much Love,
Sarah

Talking About it Tuesday...Addicted to my iPhone?

1/16/2018

Picture
Happy Tuesday beautiful hearts!  I spent the majority of my day yesterday at the AT&T store.  A simple upgrade turned into a day long engagement.  As this experience unfolded, I found myself feeling rather naked without my phone.  My hands fidgeted for something to do as I uncomfortably sat watching the world at large lose themselves in their phones.  People rarely engaged with others.  Their heads down in their phones, or conversations spewing from their tiny square devices. A whole world was going on and I felt so disconnected from it.  I found myself sitting with a little bit of anxiety.  Wowzers.  Who would've thought?  Have you ever had this experience with your electronic device?  Did you feel totally lost without it?  How did you survive this challenge?

Yesterday was a beautiful teaching for me.  I was able to see how truly plugged in and reliant I am on my phone.  I can multi-task on it.  I can connect with others.  As I sat waiting for things to download and update I got to experience my anxious self worrying about returning emails, calls, to-do lists, etc.  It's been forever since I haven't had a phone attached to my life.  I remember the good ole' days of rotary phones with a cord long enough to keep your family in ear shot of your conversation.  This is how I grew up.  We left the house.  We lived our lives.  We came back home and whoever was trying to reach us eventually did.

As yesterday wore on, I was able to see how 'addicted' I was to my phone.  It was actually rather alarming.  In light of this Universal truth moment I felt compelled  to notice how I get sucked into being constantly connected.   I want to live the most amazing life and to truly be present for it.  As I move forward creating my dreams and crafting an amazing life, I want to be able to pause in the stillness and give thanks for a moment to catch my breath.  I want to hear those around me sharing their lives.  I want to see them...really see them in front of me.  I want to taste life.  I want to be able to be present enough to hold a space of love.  I want to be so enthralled that I can't help but be immersed in joy.

Perhaps the first step is realizing a phone addiction is admitting that we see a dissonance?  The subtle incongruence of fully participating in our lives. I see the disconnect and honor it.  I feel the opportunity to create something deeper.  I honor myself and notice without judgement and shame.  I appreciate life offering me this little lesson.  How will you stay connected today?  What feels best in your life?  I think I am ready to power down so I can power up in other ways.

May You Sweetly Seek:)
In Gratitude,
Sarah
