“When love awakens in your life, in the night of your heart, it is like the dawn breaking within you. Where before there was anonymity, now there is intimacy; where before there was fear, now there is courage; where before in your life there was awkwardness, now there is a rhythm of grace and gracefulness; where before you used to be jagged, now you are elegant and in rhythm with your self. When love awakens in your life, it is like a rebirth, a new beginning.” ~John O'Donohue Happy Friday gorgeous hearts. May you be swept off your feet by the presence of love. Watch how the world loves and supports you...love is everywhere just waiting for you to notice. May your weekend be blessed in beautiful ways!!

"Learn to find compassion for and to love every 'you' who has ever existed in your lifetime. Naive you, insecure you, foolish you, fearful you...they are all a part of you and led to who you are today. You can't love the sum of the parts without loving all the parts. You were never expected to be perfect; you were only expected to learn. And that, you most certainly always did." ~Doe Zantamata Happy Thursday gorgeous hearts. I found this quote yesterday and fell in love with it. Today I am beyond grateful for every 'you' that has ever existed. There is a certain amount of space that is created in one's life when an olive branch of acceptance is extended...when we open our hearts and eyes to the ever present presence of love.
I think back to being a young child and I feel the whimsy of innocence in my life. There wasn't an agenda to be anything other than happy and present in the moment. I was sad; I cried, I was tired; I slept; I was happy; I laughed....moving through life I composed an image of naivety that was constantly analyzed. It was like the hall monitor of life was watching my every move and had an opinion about who and how I was engaging in my life...fast forward to present moment and I realize that hall monitor was ME? Who hasn't felt insecure, foolish, and fearful...but as a wise philosopher stated, life is 10% of what happens to you and 90% of how you react to it? I love this quote because it implies that we are on this eternal journey of learning. I physically find myself taking a breath when I read the line, "You can't love the sum of the parts without loving all the parts." We learn about those shadow parts of ourselves so that we can love them into the light. We experience disconnect so that we can be even more present to our connection with source. We are these ever evolving, ever complete spiritual beings having a most interesting human experience. There is a mystery of blessings unfolding throughout our lives. We find them in nature, we find them in silence, we find them in our sorrows and joys, but most often we find them through the practice of loving. May you Sweetly Seek, In Gratitude:) Sarah The prayer of our lives begins at the center.
The center of our being The center of our hearts We must not seek outside the walls of this chamber To do so we miss the journey of a lifetime With great passion and possibility become a dweller of this sacred space Whisper YES to the universe and watch her shower you in a haze of blessings. It is in this space that all answers are contained. You are the center of your answer and the answer to your center. Silence the mind and unleash the power of the Divine within You are all that you ever sought All that you ever searched for "out there" was alive "in here." Become the bride of life and dance with the magic of vision and grace This most enchanted admirer requests your full presence. Don't hasten or tarry...life is charging forward without abandon. You are the seeker...you are the answer...you are the paradox beating in the center Don't question but rather leap fearlessly into the NOW NOW is calling you...beckoning you to attend this grand feast which is your life.... Hands in prayer I bow to the center The center of our being The center of our hearts Namaste ~SLD~ May you Sweetly Seek In much gratitude:) Sarah Today on the blog, I wish to pay tribute and honor to my gorgeous grandma, Marian. She passed 7 years ago today and her absence is still as vast and deep as the ocean. Simply thinking about her I am overwhelmed with joy and love. Closing my eyes I only have to think of her and her essence washes over me...I can still feel the warmth of her hands, her cinnamon stick kisses, her fluffy skin, and I only want to bury myself in her hugs.
She grew up with loss and a certain amount of defeat as both her mother and younger brother died when she was just a young girl. She always had a melancholy look to her no matter the direction she was facing. There was part of her that lived in the past; in this space she appeared to be most content. She was a devoted wife to my grandfather Gregg, and mother to my Mom-Nancy, my Aunt-Judy, and my Uncle-John. She lived, she loved, and she died in such a fashion that I feel inspired to live, to love, to make it count. Here's an excerpt that I wrote and shared during her service...reading it today takes me right back... We all sit with you in the hours of your life…as death looms like an anxious storm ready to shower the Earth with a cleansing rain. We fumble around you attempting to ease your spiritual transcending, but it is us who must endure, while we watch your vessel return to pure light. The brownest eyes staring back at us, the sweetest and pinkest skin covering your body, I wonder how death could have found you in your beauty. I have never studied a soul like I have studied you…watching the breath slip into your mouth and fill you. Circulating life through the stages of death. What a gift you are giving us. Your heart simply breaking to open …I stare at your hands so often, wondering how many times they have clung to your children, how many times they have planted a garden or sewn a dress, how many times they have embraced your loved ones, how many times they have been folded in prayer, and how many times they have woven together our lives. We shall miss you so, but we delight in your journey home. I have never looked at life this way before as I watch it slowly fade out of your grasp. A devoted heart to life, you also become to death. Honoring its presence and fully allowing it to run its course. I am in wonder of the grace that you possessed as death surmounted to bring you home. The aches of seeing your family echo off the walls of this sterile hospital room and I know there is a reunion of sorts that I can only imagine. I hear your bellows and I stroke your forehead hoping to comfort this new visitor who has come for you. Scrambling for comfort I sit in silence and weep for your journey. My heart aches as I breath in your physical presence, hoping to make it last a lifetime. I see grandpa moving in for a kiss, his hands trembling as I can only imagine his trepedation as he watches his love fade into the ethers. His adoration permeates my gaze and I watch his tender goodbye...We see you brown eyed girl...with complete knowing and assurance that your homecoming is blessed beyond our imagination. Take care as we humbly stumble around your side, clutching at our memories and solitude. Feeling sadness and joy...breathing you in and letting you go...We will not weep for long as you make your journey back to being whole...back to the brilliance of a thousand breaths... May you Sweetly Seek, In much Gratitude:) Sarah "Let your powers emerge gradually, gently. Go gently on your path and look around. See what you have learned to define as power. See with the eyes of your heart." ~Melody Beattie, Journey to the Heart Happy Monday beautiful hearts...I simply fell in love with this daily meditation from Melody Beattie. Her work brilliantly highlights the journey of the heart. How would your life change, shift, and expand if you were to see it through the eyes of your heart? This is a delicious concept worth the exploration. Once we deconstruct our notion of power, we are able to shift into the unlimited awareness of creation.
Today I invite you to take a look at how you define power in your own life? Become a witness of this awesome force and notice if you are conspiring with it. You might just find that your definition of power has changed throughout your life. At one point in time, power might have indicated a staunch stance and an emotionless face...maybe power was the ability to keep it all together in the age of adversity...maybe power has transformed its definition and become a vision for your life? Power will continually rear it's head in your life as long as you are moving forward...the choice is up to you as to your relationship with power. I love how Baron Baptiste states, "Try easy." So much of the time we try hard and end up frustrated and fearful. No matter how this notion shows up for you, I invite you to explore your relationship with power and notice with the eyes of your heart how you can most amazingly create your life....heart first instead of head first! May you Sweetly Seek:) In Gratitude, Sarah “A kind of light spread out from her. And everything changed color. And the world opened out. And a day was good to awaken to. And there were no limits to anything. And the people of the world were good and handsome. And I was not afraid any more.”
~John Steinbeck East of Eden May you Sweetly Seek:) In Gratitude, Sarah "You are a unique plant in the divine garden. You don't have to know what plant you are in order to grow, you just need to live each day and the growth happens naturally. Then you can see, over time, the beauty of your true nature revealing itself to you. It will be a revelation to be relished!" ~Journey of Love Guidebook by Alana Fairchild-Rassouli-Richard Cohn Happy Thursday gorgeous hearts!! This morning is blazing with such amazing energy. I hope you can feel it as well. I woke up early this morning to "practice" my practices and what an amazing set up to the day! After sitting in seated meditation and working with the breath, I felt compelled to draw cards from a favorite oracle deck. I drew 4 cards, each one tenderly placed with significance. The first one had this amazing concept on it and here we are, the theme for Thankful Thursday.
How brilliant is it that a plant doesn't have to know what kind of plant it is in order to grow? All of the intricate and beautiful structures of one of Mother Natures most gorgeous creations....and they simply grow! What if we applied this concept to our lives? In our uniqueness, in our authenticity, in our vulnerability we are each a divine one of a kind creation. Isn't this enough encouragement to propel us forward...We can surround ourselves with knowledge, with books, with classrooms and still never live. As I sat this morning tuning into the internal landscape there was such a message to say YES to all experiences. Trust that this amazing process is more divinely guided than we can ever know. May you move forward today as nature does. May you trust that your roots connect deep into the heart of the Earth. May the Sun shine upon you and radiate gratitude into your life May the winds of change encourage you to be flexible May the cold of winter awaken you to the magnificent spirit of spring. May the healing rains renew your passions May you linger in every landscape that allows you to kiss bliss. May you be dizzy with delight as you wish upon the stars May the blanket of night offer you peace. May you grow wiser from each season May you grow... May you Sweetly Seek:) In Gratitude, Sarah ![]() "Do everything with a mind that lets go. Do not expect any praise or reward. If you let go a little, you experience a little peace. If you let go a lot, you experience a lot of peace. If you let go completely, you will know complete peace and freedom. Your struggle with the world will have come to an end." ~Ajahn Chah
Ajahn Chah taught, " Do everything with a mind that lets go." He taught a letting go that doesn't push things away. Pushing things away is something else entirely. Thinking we are letting go, we can just be averse, not wanting to be bothered by anything. But he described letting go as touching and letting go. Allow things to be as they are. Allow sights, feelings, thoughts, praise, blame, and all conditions to change. It is the nature of conditions to change. We can also practice allowing people and events to be as they are. It's not that we should never respond to or improve life, but it's important to know we can just let everything be as it is. This is equanimity. There is great relief in letting things be. Let things change according to their own nature. Let them come and go. This allows us to rest in a spacious knowing that is aware of sounds and silence, the dawn and the dusk, the beginning and the end. Ajahn Chach also called this knowing the refuge. Samadhi, or bliss enables us to discover and maintain this refuge.
~Listening to the Heart, A Contemplative Journey to Engaged Buddhism by- Kittisaro and Thanissara May you Sweetly Seek:) In Gratitude, Sarah Happy Tuesday beautiful hearts. I was without Internet yesterday, so I hope that you had an amazing start to your week.
I began today in my office and this magnificent sunrise was peeping in the blinds. I couldn't help but be stopped by the glory rays streaming in and warming the space that I love to write in. Just a few hours earlier this space was still sleeping in darkness and had yet to be illuminated by the morning light. Several days ago an old friend called me in the middle of the night, 4:44AM to be precise and I didn't see the missed call until morning. We played phone tag for several days and we finally connected this afternoon. They weren't even aware that they had called me and felt disturbed that they had called at such an early hour. I simply expressed my gratitude that we had re-connected. We caught up on life and the events that have been transpiring for each of us. My friend and I are both counselors, so we spoke a bit about our work and how life brings us some remarkable experiences to help us along with our evolution as spiritual beings...The old adage, that we are spiritual beings having a human experience came to the forefront of our conversation. We spoke of our own personal journey's, joys, heartbreaks, and life experiences. His words echoed off of my heart...It was one of those conversations in which you're pretty sure you had an angelic visit. His dialogue today brought such clarity that a 4:44AM call couldn't of offered. If ever I question that the Universe isn't present and supporting my growth.... "Sarah, all of these experiences that we have can't often be measured or explained in Earthly terms. Sometimes we must love the questions as much as we love the answers. All I can share from my experience is that there is a difference between empathy and sympathy. The events of your life that are unexplainable have fostered empathy for you to help others. You don't have sympathy for their struggles, for their joys, for their heartbreak, you have empathy because you have lived experiences that have created more compassion, more understanding and more grace to accept that which has no Earthly explanation. It is not your job to judge, it is your job as a soul to love. You haven't a clue why someone is going through this experience in their life, that is between them and Spirit. As someone who works with others, your job is to simply hold a safe space full of empathy and allow their process to organically unfold." I'm pretty sure by the end of our conversation my eyes were brimming with tears, tears of gratitude for all of the ways that this conversation blessed me, renewed me, and allowed me to feel such connection to Spirit. Empathy can be defined as, "Understanding what others are feeling because you have experienced it yourself or can put yourself in their shoes." Sympathy can be defined as, "Acknowledging another person's emotional hardships and providing comfort and assurance. It is my prayer that my work as a soul fosters empathy with my clients, with my life experiences and with this amazing journey. It is truly our job as spiritual beings to harness our experiences in life and use them as vehicles of empathy. We may not always understand the wounds as Rumi says, but they are truly the space where the light enters us. May you Sweetly Seek:) In Gratitude, Sarah The practice of mindfulness is very simple.
You stop, you breathe, and you still your mind. You come home to yourself so that you can enjoy the here and now in every moment. All the wonders of life are already here. They're calling you. If you can listen to them, you will be able to stop running. What you need, what we all need, is silence. Stop the noise in your mind in order for the wondrous sounds of life to be heard. Then you can begin to live your life authentically and deeply. ~Thich Nhat Hanh -excerpt from Silence, The Power of quiet in a world full of noise May you Sweetly Seek:) In Gratitude, Sarah |
