"How do I change my consciousness so that my daily life will change?" ~Michael Malone Happy Wednesday beautiful hearts! Last night I pulled out a few old coaching notebooks and found this rich material from my classes with my friend and teacher Michael.
I love this work because of its richness and transformative approach. Transpersonal Coaching identifies the client as the expert in their lives which becomes a powerful catalyst for growth. In this landscape skills are identified that help the client move forward, to increase consciousness! To expand awareness. To gain perspective. All too often throughout our experiences in life we become arrested in our 'development' during various stages of life. Perhaps we become trapped in shame. Stuck in guilt. Consumed with grief, and the list of feelings goes on and on. My teacher shared that it becomes our work as coaches to help our clients look over their lives and help to bring consciousness where it has not existed before. It is imperative to create options to help clients move forward. So today I invite you into this powerful question, "How do I change my consciousness so that my daily life will change?" Perhaps you choose an area of your life in which you feel like you have been stunted in your growth. Stuck in a way of thinking. Trapped in an old story that keeps you stuck in feelings or regret or helplessness. How can you empower your life with a different viewpoint? Begin to consider other potentials within this scenario. Consider your potential. Like a packet of seeds, each seed holds a potential for you. You are the master of your ship! How will your daily life change because of this awareness? May You Sweetly Seek:) In Gratitude, Sarah ![]() Happy Tuesday beautiful hearts! Today in the Northern Hemisphere we celebrate the Spring Equinox- equal daylight and darkness. As we welcome more light into our day to day lives, I can't help but think of the analogy of planting a garden.
I grew up with grandparents who had a huge garden. Throughout the summer we would feast on their hardwork. We hauled peas in the driveway. Crunched on delicious cucumbers. Shucked corn. Canned tomatoes. And all the while, we made some pretty remarkable memories. I remember all the time my grandparents spent tilling the Earth, tending to the seeds, and keeping the critters out. Their garden became a full time summer job. I truly believe that my grandfather planted in the energy of expectancy. Expecting that the crops would flourish. That the Earth would support the upcoming growing season. That we would all benefit from his handwork. As I tap into this energy I use this analogy in my own life, and I invite you to bring it into yours. What possibilities are you growing into a reality? What intentions are going into the ground? How are you affirming them in your mind? How are you planning to nurture these new ways of being? Your divine essence is not static. You always have the potential to be planting new seeds. New thoughts. New desires. New ways of being. When we are offered support, our potentials become possibilities. As you soak in the rays of the sun, may you grow your capacity and expand your potentials! Bring on the light! Bring on the possibilities! May You Sweetly Seek:) In Gratitude, Sarah “Your own Self-Realization is the greatest service you can render the world.” ― Ramana Maharshi Happy Monday beautiful hearts! Over the weekend I taught a Yoga class that was themed around the energy of awakening. When I looked up awakening I found varying definitions, but they all themed around waking up. Awakening can be a, revival of interest or attention.
Awakening isn't a place that we arrive. We don't one day realize we are here, because we are always gathering momentum to get there. As we moved through the Yin poses yesterday, the goal wasn't to magically ascend. The goal wasn't to master the body in an hour and fifteen minutes. The goal was to be present to the breath, present to the body. Awake in the sensations of the heart. Awake in the stillness of the body. Awake to the NOW. As you gaze into your life, what are you awakening to? Perhaps the Spring or Fall sunshine is causing you to revive an interest in some area or aspect of your life. Perhaps you realize that moment by moment you are in the process of awakening. As my beautiful wise teacher always says, "Show me something new so that I may grow." May you continually expand your consciousness and heart energy. May you be a steady witness to your breath. A trusted friend to your spirit. May You Sweetly Seek:) In Gratitude, Sarah Happy Friday beautiful hearts! The other day I was contemplating a rather large life decision and as I sat in the midst of this decision I found myself swallowed up by thoughts of perfectionism. I wanted all the details of this transition to be perfect! Ugh! How many of you can relate?
Instead of making the next best possible decision I found myself armed with a litany of "what if's." These 'what if's' seemed to cripple me from moving forward. I was frozen in my black and white thinking. It's either got to be A or B, and what if I missed thinking about C? Thank goodness for my mama...she scooped me up in a big hug and her words soothed my heart! We had a lovely heart to heart and a good ole' cry! One of my favorite researchers on perfectionism, Brenee Brown teaches that perfectionism gets us tangled up in what others might think about us, whereas healthy striving keeps us centered with the notion, 'how can I improve?' As I sit with this exciting decision that lays ahead of me, I am looking forward to answering how I can improve my life by making it! I hope that this sharing benefits you in some way. I find it all too easy in this day and age to hide behind things looking perfect. Yoga poses appear perfect, significant others are perfect, life looks perfect, but in actuality, we are all just doing the best that we can! I want to be real and to share experiences that are unfolding in an effort that someone else might feel safe and willing to share. Life can be messy, experiences can be challenging, they can also be intensely beautiful. There is a range of opportunity to experience this life. What information is this moment offering to you...how is this decision, or this moment helping you to improve? May You Sweetly Seek:) In Gratitude, Sarah "Your mind is filled with old thoughts, mostly someone else's old thoughts. It's time now to change your mind about some things." ~Neale Donald Walsch Happy Tuesday beautiful hearts! In various seasons of our lives, it becomes imperative to do a little spring cleaning. The other day I was preparing for a Yoga class and found myself drawn to focus on the Kleshas, afflictions that cause us suffering; or ways of being that impede our happiness.
The Klesha I focused on was Asmita, our "I-AM-NESS" thinking. In the midst of this thinking, we become identified with our titles, our labels, our possessions, our status and so forth. As I look over the landscape of my life it can become all to easy to slide into false notions about the self. It is easy to identify ourselves as our job titles, our relationship titles, and so on. I find myself wanting to connect more with my spiritual practices to slow down and plug in. Am I believing thoughts that support what I would like to create in my life? Am I tied into being identified in a particular way that causes me to miss the life that is right in front of me? As you move through your week, perhaps pick three of the titles you most identify with and then sit with them in a way that you can gather more information around them. Sit in a space of compassion and love. If you are not these titles, then who are you? Know that we are all sitting in these questions together! May You Sweetly Seek:) In Gratitude, Sarah 'I think midlife is when the universe gently places her hands upon your shoulders, pulls you close, and whispers in your ear: I’m not screwing around. It’s time. All of this pretending and performing – these coping mechanisms that you’ve developed to protect yourself from feeling inadequate and getting hurt – has to go.
Your armor is preventing you from growing into your gifts. I understand that you needed these protections when you were small. I understand that you believed your armor could help you secure all of the things you needed to feel worthy of love and belonging, but you’re still searching and you’re more lost than ever. Time is growing short. There are unexplored adventures ahead of you. You can’t live the rest of your life worried about what other people think. You were born worthy of love and belonging. Courage and daring are coursing through you. You were made to live and love with your whole heart. It’s time to show up and be seen.'' ~ Brené Brown “most importantly love
like it's the only thing you know how at the end of the day all this means nothing this page where you're sitting your degree your job the money nothing even matters except love and human connection who you loved and how deeply you loved them how you touched the people around you and how much you gave them” ― Rupi Kaur, Milk and Honey Happy Tuesday beautiful hearts! Over the weekend I had the chance to attend a guest Yogi's workshop. As we flowed through our practice, I found myself hanging on Tymi's words.
We moved into side angle pose she muttered these words, "Reach up. Look up. Live up!" Something about that trinity of her prose stuck the core of my heart! I have been mulling those words around in both my head and heart. We all have the capacity to reach a little higher in our lives. Perhaps the very thing we have been dreaming about is just one reach higher! Instead of pondering what could have been, what if we reach a moment higher and gather even more goodness? When was the last time you looked up? We can get so carried away with our heads down that we sometimes miss whats right above us. What a blessing it is to look up. To see beyond the horizon and dream ourselves right into the stars. What a blessing it is to look out of the fog of illusion and see grace at work in our lives. And finally, what does it take to live up? Maybe it's having a conversation with someone you love and telling them how you truly feel? Maybe it's being honest about who you keep company with? Maybe it's letting yourself off the hook for the person you used to be? Maybe it's offering love to a situation instead of anger and distaste. I invite you to take these words into your daily life. How is life asking you to reach up...to look up...to live up? May You Sweetly Seek:) In Gratitude, Sarah Happy Friday beautiful hearts! I was on Instagram the other day and came across this awesome list of phrases to help foster children's awareness and problem solve. All too often we say, 'Be Careful' to those we love, but here are a few phrases we could use instead. I'm thinking I could share these with the adults in my life as well.
