Happy Friday beautiful hearts.  Today on Friday Favorites I want to highlight a beautiful quote by Osho.  His words echo the sentiment of truly living.  This life that he speaks of follows the pace of nature.  Nature's stature is one of joy and whimsy.  For all of the ways that we become serious with our lives, Osho reminds us to embody the joy and delight of the natural world.
May You Sweetly Seek:)
In Gratitude,
Sarah
“Take hold of your own life.
See that the whole existence is celebrating.
These trees are not serious, these birds are not serious.
The rivers and the oceans are wild,
and everywhere there is fun,
everywhere there is joy and delight.
Watch existence,
listen to the existence and become part of it.”

Thankful Thursday...

Happy Thursday beautiful hearts.  Today on Thankful Thursday I want to explore the grandness of life, of living.  "To live" is a verb.  It is a call to action, an effort to progress, a desire to evolve.  One of the definitions of 'live' is to 'spend one's life in a particular way or under particular circumstances.'

If you close your eyes for a moment, can you feel this word awaken your physical body?  Can you feel it stir your spiritual connection?  Can you notice it softening your mind?  As the poet Mary Oliver offered, "Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?"  This quote has been a compass of direction in my own life.  My appreciation of these words often times causes me to pause as I consider my motivation behind my life.  Why is it most often that we falter taking the reigns of our life until a monumental catastrophe has knocked on our door?

Bronnie Ware, a palliative care provider, songwriter, and writer shared a piece in The Huffington Post about the top 5 regrets of the dying.  May these observations that she gathered from her patients inspire us to seize this wild and precious life.

1. I wish I'd had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.
"
This was the most common regret of all. When people realise that their life is almost over and look back clearly on it, it is easy to see how many dreams have gone unfulfilled."

2. I wish I didn't work so hard.
"This came from every male patient that I nursed. They missed their children's youth and their partner's companionship. Women also spoke of this regret. But as most were from an older generation, many of the female patients had not been breadwinners. All of the men I nursed deeply regretted spending so much of their lives on the treadmill of a work existence."

3. I wish I'd had the courage to express my feelings.
"Many people suppressed their feelings in order to keep peace with others. As a result, they settled for a mediocre existence and never became who they were truly capable of becoming. Many developed illnesses relating to the bitterness and resentment they carried as a result."

4. I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.
"Often they would not truly realise the full benefits of old friends until their dying weeks and it was not always possible to track them down. Many had become so caught up in their own lives that they had let golden friendships slip by over the years. There were many deep regrets about not giving friendships the time and effort that they deserved. Everyone misses their friends when they are dying."

5. I wish that I had let myself be happier.
"This is a surprisingly common one. Many did not realise until the end that happiness is a choice. They had stayed stuck in old patterns and habits. The so-called 'comfort' of familiarity overflowed into their emotions, as well as their physical lives. Fear of change had them pretending to others, and to their selves, that they were content. When deep within, they longed to laugh properly and have silliness in their life again."

Reading through this list of the top 5 regrets of the dying brings tears to my eyes, humbleness to my heart and urgency to my breath.  It is my hope on this Thankful Thursday that these top 5 regrets should inspire our lives towards living, our hearts towards loving, our souls towards exploring.

Life is deep.  Life is impulsive.  Life is planned.  Life is paradoxical.
Life is wonder-filled.  Life is intimate.  Life is animation.  Life is creation.  Life is knowledge.  Life is choice.  Life is realization.  Life is Love.  Life is NOW.

May you be inspired today and always to LIVE!
May you Sweetly Seek:)
In Gratitude,
Sarah

Today on W.O.W. Wednesday, I'd like to highlight the work of Marie Kondo.  She has published a book, "The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up-The Japanese art of decluttering and organizing."
This book is a treasury of of joy!  Simple and concise.  From folding laundry to organizing bookshelves.  Marie's passion arises from helping others to clear clutter so that they may enjoy the magic of their homes.  The quotes below are a few of my favorites from her book:

“the best way to choose what to keep and what to throw away is to take each item in one’s hand and ask: “Does this spark joy?” If it does, keep it. If not, dispose of it. This is not only the simplest but also the most accurate yardstick by which to judge.”

“From the moment you start tidying, you will be compelled to reset your life. As a result, your life will start to change. That’s why the task of putting your house in order should be done quickly. It allows you to confront the issues that are really important. Tidying is just a tool, not the final destination. The true goal should be to establish the lifestyle you want most once your house has been put in order.”

“The process of assessing how you feel about the things you own, identifying those that have fulfilled their purpose, expressing your gratitude, and bidding them farewell, is really about examining your inner self, a rite of passage to a new life.”

May you be inspired to de-clutter and organize your life!
May you Sweetly Seek,
In Gratitude:)

Talking about it Tuesday...

You're Not You.
Happy Tuesday beautiful hearts!  A dear friend of my suggested this profound and heart warming story about Kate (Hilary Swank) who suffers from ALS and Bec (Emmy Rossum) who becomes Kate's caregiver.

This brilliant film travels to the depths of our humanness.  It offers insight into ALS,  the progressive neurodegenerative disease effecting over 20,000 people ages 40-70.  The film is tender, raw and quietly roaring with the delicate message; LIVE.  The only certainty is that life will keep moving forward with or without us.

The unlikely friendship of Kate and Bec portrays the vulnerability of love and acceptance.  Kate has her life planned out as Bec struggles to find meaning in hers.  These two women come to rely upon one another.  They teach their audience how to live, how to love, and ultimately how to let go.

The wisdom of this film leaves the viewer inspired to love, to take more chances, to be dazzled by the art of living.  One of my favorite lines in the movie was made by Kate, "
Why is it that we want the ones that don't see us, instead of the ones that do? Kate's final wisdom to Bec is to make sure she chooses someone who sees her.  Isn't that brilliant advice for all of us?

Make sure you bring your Kleenex!  I was pretty much gulp sobbing by the end of the movie!

May you Sweetly Seek:)

Sarah

“ In meditation we discover our inherent restlessness. Sometimes we get up and leave. Sometimes we sit there but our bodies wiggle and squirm and our minds go far away. This can be so uncomfortable that we feel’s it’s impossible to stay. Yet this feeling can teach us not just about ourselves but what it is to be human…we really don’t want to stay with the nakedness of our present experience. It goes against the grain to stay present. These are the times when only gentleness and a sense of humor can give us the strength to settle down…so whenever we wander off, we gently encourage ourselves to “stay” and settle down. Are we experiencing restlessness? Stay! Are fear and loathing out of control? Stay! Aching knees and throbbing back? Stay! What’s for lunch? Stay! I can’t stand this another minute! Stay!””
~Pema Chodron

Happy Friday beautiful hearts!  May the warmth and support of this glorious day inspire you to stay with the practice of presence.  Feel it. Notice it.  Support it.  Be curious about it.  Dive in and watch as your awareness and life unfold.  Stay!
May you have a gorgeous weekend!

May You Sweetly Seek:)

“While it does, and should, feel good to be appreciated by another person, if you are dependent upon their appreciation to feel good, you will not be able to consistently feel good, because no other person has the ability, or a responsibility, to hold you as their singular, positive object of attention. Your Inner Being, however, the Source within you, always holds you, with no exceptions, as a constant object of appreciation. So if you will tune your thoughts and actions to that consistent Vibration of Well-Being flowing forth from your Inner Being—you will thrive under any and all conditions."

Talking About it Tuesday...

Happy Tuesday beautiful hearts!  Today I am inspired to talk about TIME.  I have recently been trying to get my days more organized so that I can tap into the 'flow' of abundance, prosperity, love, opportunity, and intention.  A coach that I am working with suggested that I take advantage of the Google calendar app.  Namaste on that suggestion:)!  After downloading it, I have been color coding my days and it feels good to have a routine to follow.  The productiveness of my days leaves me smiling instead of frowning.   I am charting my exercise time, drive time, teaching time, client time, and the infinite list continues.

Due to this new awareness of time I have been able to become more conscious of my habits and the ways I distract myself or go into story about why I can't do something.  I have been deliberately scheduling time in nature to tap into the immeasurable wellspring of 'presence.' When I am in nature I so easily feel connected to all that is.  As the sun warms my heart and body, the breeze rustles my spirit, I can feel the Earth so generously supporting me.  The calming breeze reminds me to focus on my breath, the sounds of the birds inspire me to use my voice, the lush greenery invites me to trust my intuition, the sun reminds me to tap into my personal power, the ground allows me to feel supported, and the blue sky invites me towards a higher connection.   I am reminded of nature's divine timing.  In this space I am totally in the present moment.  Do you have a space in your life that anchors you to the present moment?

As I was out walking this morning I noticed the sunlight on this dandelion. Something so simple, but yet so profound.  If I hadn't scheduled this time to move my body and connect with nature, I might have missed this opportunity.  The light was dancing in shadows as I stood and connected with the simplicity of the dandelion.  I took a deep breath and connected.
Wonder. Gratitude. Joy. Simplicity. Yes. Love. Inspiration. Focus. Here. Now.

In our daily lives it is so easy to miss the little things because we are over-booked and exhausted.  We easily animate our pasts and project ourselves into the future.  As we become more accountable for the ways in which we invest our time, we are able to experience the miracles all around us.

It is truly a miracle to see, to hear, to feel, to taste, to touch...to simply live.  May we support one another as we create a conscious expansion of time in our lives.  In what area of life would you like to expand your awareness of time?  May you curiously explore this area of your life.  May your intentions create miracles!

May You Sweetly Seek:)
In Gratitude,
Sarah

Holstee Manifesto
“This is your life. Do what you want and do it often.
If you don't like something, change it.
If you don't like your job, quit.
If you don't have enough time, stop watching TV.
If you are looking for the love of your life, stop; they will be waiting for you when you start doing things you love.
Stop over-analysing, life is simple.
All emotions are beautiful.
When you eat, appreciate every last bite.
Life is simple.
Open your heart, mind and arms to new things and people, we are united in our differences.
Ask the next person you see what their passion is and share your inspiring dream with them.
Travel often; getting lost will help you find yourself.
Some opportunities only come once, seize them.
Life is about the people you meet and the things you create with them, so go out and start creating.
Life is short, live your dream and wear your passion.”

Holstee Manifesto
Happy Monday beautiful hearts!  Today is the perfect day to consciously acknowledge the journey ahead.  On this journey we have the opportunity to create our own Manifesto, a creed born of our desires and passions.   What lights up your heart?  What drowns out your fears?  What causes you to dream?  Can you feel the universe embracing you?  Can you feel the Earth grounding down to support you?  Can you surrender towards the light of Spirit?   How do you wish to spend your days? Can you love more fully?  What if you lived with compassion, joy, and freedom at the helm of your heart?   If you only had hours left to live, what would you leave as your legacy?
I hope you are inspired to create a manifesto for your life.  May it be another way in which to share your love, your talents, and your joy!

May You Sweetly Seek,
In Gratitude,
Sarah

Thankful Thursday...

Happy Thankful Thursday beautiful hearts!  Today I am so thankful for the presence of this man in my life; my grandfather, Ed.   05/14 marks the 20th anniversary of his passing.

At the time I was 14 and couldn't even fathom the loss of this grand man in my life.  I was with him when he passed and at the time felt such an ache to watch his fall.  He was a friend, a magical soul, the man who made Mickey Mouse pancakes, the man who taught me to fish, to play cards, the man who introduced me to Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, the man who might have introduced a few swear words into my vocabulary, the man who carved out such a space of love and devotion towards being a grandfather!  I could just burst with love!!!

I still miss his physical presence so very much, but through the years I have felt his spiritual presence on such a grand scale.  He taught me to love family, to be passionate about life, and to live it all one day at a time.

When I think of him now, I think of him being limitless in form and abundant in every area of my life.  I feel him behind me guiding me along the way.  I feel him in front of me making sure all is well.  I feel him everywhere.  When I close my eyes I can still hear his voice and feel his hugs.

I always find pennies and somehow know it's him saying hello....

Today I am beyond grateful as I celebrate and honor this amazing spirit that I had the opportunity to call grandpa.  Thank you, I love you oh so very much!!!

May You Sweetly Seek:)
In Gratitude,
Sarah

Words of Wisdom...W.O.W.

Picture
A PRAYER FOR RECOVERING EXPECTATION ADDICTS Lord, Shiva, Yaweh, Saraswati, [insert your own deities here] pimp my shizzle and deliver me to where it’s best.

Yess’m, Jesus, life, cosmic intelligence, Milky Way Magi, take the wheel.

I know you’ve got my back. I know that you know how intensely my heart burns, how sweet is the honey at the center of my center, how much I am capable of. And God knows (that’d be you) how game I am to collaborate with you to make good stuff happen.

I accept my calling: to show up and shine. Unfurled and honest. Determined to be only that which I am.

I’m here to give…my all.

I trust that pure intention counts for plentiful support.

I trust we’ll get where I’m going, together — once I learn to be where I am.

I’ll go make my art now.

I have faith that you’ve got the rest covered.

Amen. Om shanti. Shalom.

You can only do what ONLY YOU can do.

Do that.

The universe will configure around your very best efforts.

Willingly.
