Friday Favorites...Howard Thurman Quote

“Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”
― Howard Thurman
Happy Friday beautiful hearts!  I am so in love with this quote.  As I allow it to encompass my awareness I find it soaking into all the regions of my being.  These words help me to move past the safety net of my mind and into the realm of possibilities.  I feel the aliveness of creativity, the invitation of Yoga, the power of nature, and the presence of my favorite little human.  These words inspire me to grow towards what makes me come alive.

There are many moments where we are called to transcend the 'box' of beingness and expand into the grandness of self expression.  Your unique energy is what the world needs.  Be willing to share your gifts.  Be willing to be uncomfortable.  Be willing to fan the flame of your desires.  Be willing to see yourself as a catalyst for others to share their unique energy with the world.

My beautiful coach and friend Michael shared, "Learn to resonate with who you are, rather than atoning and mourning for who you are not."

In case you haven't heard it yet today, I am so glad that you are alive and sharing your unique light with the world!

May You Sweetly Seek:)

W.O.W. Wednesday...A leaf's life

9/27/2016

Happy Wednesday beautiful hearts!  These words come straight from my heart.  I have been working a lot lately with identifying the energy of my inner judge.  This archetype shows up and shit gets intense.  I practice yoga, I say my prayers, I attempt to live a mindful life, but on the flip side I am also experiencing my humanness everyday.  Everyday I have the opportunity to notice where my work lies.

As I explore this notion in my life I am reminded that the shadow parts of self are alive and well in all of us.  A shadow simply needs more light shone upon it.    Yesterday, nature helped me to see how easily I can stumble down this rabbit hole.  I would't think to judge nature as harshly as I judge self, so it became a beautiful meditative walk as I observed the ever changing landscape around me.  Each stage of the process brimming with beauty.  An element of holding on as well as letting go.  I hope you find this musing speaking to some part of your life.  Ever changing...ever evolving.

May it be of benefit!
May You Sweetly Seek:), Sarah

"As you gaze upon your life, may you inquire with kindness and compassion of the true journey...the journey inward.  Inward to the divine spark of your being.  To the grace of the energy that is you.  As you travel to the interior regions of your heart entertain the visitors that you find there...love, joy, fear, anger, judgement, curiosity, luminosity, kindness.  Admire the life you are living and then look to your neighbor's life with the same admiration.

In the messy beautiful landscape of now, life is happening.  Perhaps you notice your likes and dislikes...your aspirations and desires...your yes's and your no's.  Each thought serves to bring you into expansion or contraction.  As the thinking mind shifts into identification it too easily invites the shadow aspects of the inner judge.  Judging for how things should be, rather than discerning the now.   Judging the texture of life, the abrupt changes not planned for, the coarse emotions of fear, anger, sadness, and discontent.  Perhaps you begin to notice the dissonant ways in which you live.  As you shift into the role of  judge you announce your lack of safety and discontent for the unfolding process.  You abandon ship and leave the vessel of your soul unattended.  In this unattended state, judgements swirl just as easily as the wind.

The process of witnessing your life is as simple and complex as that of observing nature.  As you survey each leaf, can you take in the beauty of the various stages of life?  A life so vibrant in color, a life worn from living well.  Each leaf somehow weathering the elements of nature, each life somehow weathering the elements of living.  Gently holding on....gently letting go.  How are you holding on, how are you letting go?  How are these judgements really judgements about yourself?  How can travel inward with more compassion and discernment?

Can you appreciate the beauty of your life just as you would appreciate the beauty of each leaf?  Release the story...surrender to the process...observe with kind eyes.  You are the leaf and the leaf is you.:)

Talking About it Tuesday...Increasing our Natural Development.

Happy Tuesday beautiful hearts!  Today I want to explore the notion of growing.  'To grow' means "to increase by natural development."  As you peer into your own life, how does this definition resonate with you?

Throughout my Transpersonal Coaching class we have been invited to entertain this notion of growing.   Each day when we arise we have an opportunity to notice what we would like to increase in our lives.  We have an opportunity to be an observer of our thoughts, a designer of our lives, an artist of our souls.  Recently at a training one of my teachers was working with me and their words have been etched into my consciousness.

"Sarah, you have a choice.  It can be the way it has always been, because you will know what to expect.  Or it can be different, but that is your choice.  You have to decide if you want it to be different"

It is always a choice as to how we focus our attention.  Have you ever narrowed your focus so much that you can't see a way out?  Or have you broadened your focus and find it hard to gather clarity?  It takes practice to return our awareness.  Our awareness is shaped by the lens of our beliefs, our community, our actions, and our mindset.  How are the thoughts we are thinking contributing to our growth?  As we look to the garden of our heart and mind, what are we planting?  Here are some wonderful questions to begin engaging awareness and growth:
  • What is the situation you would like to focus on?
    • Why is it important for you?
  • What is missing now?
    • Who is on your team to support you?
  • What would you do without fear?
    • What could be your lesson here?
  • Knowing the options, what is your next step?
    • What resources do you need?

It is my hope that as you begin this gorgeous day you will lean into these questions.  Allow them to resonate with you throughout your day.  Find them in your passions and your fears.  Allow honesty to cloak you with grace as your authentic self leads the way!

May You Sweetly Seek:)

Monday Musing...A forest of awe!

“All I have is all I need and all I need is all I have in this moment.”
― Byron Katie
Happy Monday beautiful hearts!  My heart is brimming with gratitude.  I had an opportunity to explore in nature yesterday.  Nature has always been a place of rediscovery, of coming home, of reconnecting to the divine self.  In the grandness of the nature I find myself humbled by a world of possibilities.

I ventured into the woods and reconnected to the plenty of the Earth.  The gentle fall breeze, the dancing leaves, the quietly growing moss, the stillness of the forest.  The interconnectedness of it all.  How does the breeze offer a new energy in your lives?  How do the dancing of leaves encourage you to move more organically in your life?  How can stillness help you to transcend the overthinking mind?

As I breathed in the wonder of Mother Earth, my heart swelled with gratitude.  I gazed down at my feet and then back up towards the sky.  I felt my connection.  I smiled with joy.

Standing amidst the towering trees and woodland setting I couldn't help but chuckle.  Each beautiful sight I was beholding wasn't in competition, or angst, but rather simply fully embodying their role.   Nature was present for the unfolding of this moment and then the next.  There was no rushing.  No needing for things to be different than they were.  There was simply an awareness of energy.   A peaceful affirmation that all was well.

As you begin your week, can you stand in the forest of your heart and simply notice that all of your needs are met in this moment?  There is no striving, comparison, wanting, or craving.  Can you fully embody this moment, and then the next.  As I allow nature to be my teacher, I am again reminded that in this moment I have all I need.

May you know the abundance of the benevolent Earth.  May you trust the divine timing of your life.  May you stand in awe.  May you know peace in this moment and the many moments to follow.

May You Sweetly Seek:)
In Gratitude,

Friday Favorites...Law of Radiation and Attraction by Catherine Ponder

Happy Friday beautiful hearts!  I am loving the teaching by Catherine Ponder from her book on The Dynamic Laws of Prosperity.  When I look up prosperity in the dictionary, one of its meanings is, "a successful, flourishing, or thriving condition."  As I translate this condition into my life it becomes much more than the financial abundance I am seeking to manifest, it becomes all conditions in my life that I wish to increase success, flourishing and thriving.   Can you peer into your life and notice how things would shift if your mindset turned around failure and moved into a  success mentality?  From lack to flourishing?  From surviving to thriving!  YOU WERE BORN TO BE PROSPEROUS!!!

In her law of Radiation and Attraction, she offered these seven thoughts to support prosperity.  (This list has been re-shared via a recent class at The Wellness Institute)
  • We must sow in order to reap, give in order to receive.
  • What we radiate out in thoughts, mental pictures and words, we attract.
  • We can't get something for nothing
  • Determine what you have to give and give it- Write this out.
  • You are a magnet to attract abundance to you.
  • We must also take definite steps to move towards our goals.
AFFIRMATION:
  • "Divine Love expressing through me, draws to me all that is needed for happiness, prosperity, health, and spiritual fulfillment."

I truly believe we are such connected beings and that as we begin to embrace our potential for prosperity, our lives begin to change.  We begin to transform our thoughts, and then our lives subtly shift.  We embrace a tenderness in relationship and we watch our interactions with others thrive.  We share with the world our gifts and passions as we find the deepest reservoir of success.  It is in this reservoir that our service to others transforms our interconnectedness to prosperity.  May you feel and know the Divine Love expressing through every area of your life!

Thankful Thursday...Moments of Awe

“The world is full of magic things, patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper.”
― W.B. Yeats
Happy Thursday beautiful hearts!  Today I want to talk about 'AWE.'  In an article from the Greater Good Science Center (GGSC) from March 8, 2016, Juliana Breines talks about the powerful impact of experiencing 'AWE' in our daily lives.

The dictionary defines awe as, "an overwhelming feeling of reverence, admiration, fear, etc. produced by that which is grand, sublime, extremely powerful."  If you pause for a moment, when was the last time you felt an overwhelming reverence or admiration for your world?  It is so easy to hop from task to task, to bury our noses in our phones, to be so consumed with life that we forget to notice that awe is all around us.

Researchers are finding that moments of awe are linked to better health, more vitality, less stress, and more effective coping strategies.  As we glance away from the mundane tasks of living and gain a much broader perspective, we begin to feel the 'smallness' of being connected to the whole.  From the trees to the bee's, nature has a way of showing us our interconnectedness.

The GGSC has shared four of the top research based activities to increase awe.
  1. Write about a personal experience of awe. - recall your experience in vivid detail.  Perhaps it was an astounding vacation, the first time you met your new baby, a scenic vista, etc.  This is a great exercise to get you out of a rut and into the feelings of 'awe.'
  2. Take an Awe Walk. - An awe walk simply involves taking a little stroll to a location that has the potential to be awe inspiring. (Please leave your cell phones in the car or at home)!  Your attitude plays a large role in this walk.  Imagine as if you are seeing your surroundings for the first time.  I find that connecting with nature leaves me with a profound sense of wonder.  How about you?
  3. Watch an awe-inducing video. - Ideally this video would induce a sense of awe due to the majestic scenery and vastness of the surroundings.  Check out YouTube for some video clips.
  4. Read an awe-inspiring story. - Checkout books that elicit the experience of actually being involved in the story.  The article suggests checking out Stephen Hawking's, A Brief History of Time.

May you be encouraged to create more moments of 'AWE' in your daily life.  Curiosity opens our hearts to the experience of awe.  Our willingness to look with new vision welcomes grand new ways of connecting.

W.O.W. Wednesday...When Things Fall Apart

9/20/2016

“We think that the point is to pass the test or overcome the problem, but the truth is that things don't really get solved. They come together and they fall apart. Then they come together again and fall apart again. It's just like that. The healing comes from letting there be room for all of this to happen: room for grief, for relief, for misery, for joy.
~Pema Chodron

Happy Wednesday beautiful hearts.  I often look at these words pasted above my desk.  They serve as a reminder that life is constantly calling us to the heart of each moment.  I returned home from a very powerful healing weekend and I am again reminded that life isn't to be solved, it is to be experienced.  Sometimes the experience calls us to batten down the hatches of our heart and other times life invites us to dance in the very center of our being. How many times do we miss experiences because we think they have to look a certain way?  Most of the time this way needs to be orderly and convenient for us.  But what happens when life doesn't go according to plan.  How can we live well in these moments?

In the tender corridors of our house, joy is waiting to be awakened.  Grief lives just down the hall, cloaked in memories of days gone by.  Fear rears its head as the tides of our lives change.  Love abides with patient eyes.   All of these emotions share the house of our heart.  It is through acknowledging them that we heal.  Space and containment.  Containment and space.  Day after day we dedicate our awakening to the dualistic nature of living.

May you be inspired today to grow the spacious nature of your hearts awareness.

May You Sweetly Seek:)

Monday Musing...Imagine the life you dream of!

"It is easy.  Just once a day, imagine the life you dream of.  Believe that it can be yours in this world of magic and miracles.  Choose to live as if you know of its inevitable manifestation.  Don't compromise.  Don't worry.  Don't look for results.  And as surely as spirit crafts one moment after another, so too will it fuse together the life you now lead with the life of your dreams as if they were two pieces of a jigsaw puzzle, destined to become one.
This alone determines what's 'meant to be.'"
Tallyho,
The Universe

Happy Monday beautiful hearts!  I hope this past weekend blessed your hearts in beautiful ways!  In NorthEast Ohio, fall is brimming with cool morning breezes and hot summer days.  I just love this time of transition.  As I feel the renewal in the air, I also feel the renewal in our dreams.  As we begin to reinvest in ourselves and our desires, we are called to be extraordinary visionaries.  We are asked to shine a light on the what keeps us stuck and what also helps us to grow.  Fall invites mindsets and beliefs to fall away like leaves fluttering from a tree.  There is great energy in surrendering instead of struggling.  We are called to nurture the dreams of our hearts, to plant the seeds of our passions, and to tend to the union of our desires.

As I read the words of The Universe, I am again invigorated to see my life melding together like a beautiful jigsaw puzzle.  Spirit has equipped my life with all of the pieces, I just need to continually invest my time and thoughts upon the miracles of living.  We truly are alive at such an amazing time!

Wishing you all a miraculous start to your week!  May you focus in on the joys of living an letting go!

May You Sweetly Seek:)

Friday Favorites...The Summer Day by Mary Oliver

The Summer Day

Who made the world?
Who made the swan, and the black bear?
Who made the grasshopper?
This grasshopper, I mean- the one who has flung herself out of the grass, the one who is eating sugar out of my hand, who is moving her jaws back and forth instead of up and down- who is gazing around with her enormous and complicated eyes.
Now she lifts her pale forearms and thoroughly washes her face.
Now she snaps her wings open, and floats away.
I don't know exactly what a prayer is.
I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down into the grass, how to kneel down in the grass, how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields, which is what I have been doing all day.
Tell me, what else should I have done?
Doesn't everything die at last, and too soon?
Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?
—Mary Oliver
