The Gift of Self...
Happy Friday beautiful hearts!! Today's post is all about the gift of self. When
I was driving to the gym this morning I discovered Joel Osteen as an option on the XM radio. I clicked it on and his message was all about the gift of self. As Khalil Gibran shares, “You give but little when you give of your possessions. It is when you give of yourself that you truly give.”
Such an appropriate message for this season. In the hustle and bustle of life, I think sometimes we realize that our PRESENCE not PRESENTS can be the best gift. It's being able to share how we feel with those we love. It's expressing our gratitude for someones smile, for their kindness, for the ways that they enrich our lives. As Joel was recounting his message he shared the last night he spent with his father. On this particular night his father expressed how proud he was of him, and Joel gave him an extra hug to let him know how much he loved him. He wasn't aware that this would be their last meeting, but he felt complete in their time together.
My invitation to you on this gorgeous day is to give of yourself. Reach out and express your feelings so that at the end of the day, you have no regrets. Hug those you love, give them a smooch, truly be in their presence. Soaking them all in...We tend to put off things, thinking that we will have more time; but that is the pocket where regret stores itself. Regret convinces you that a gift is more valuable than your time, that "someday" will be here soon, and that you can squeeze in one more activity to prove your worth. We never know how our lives impact those around us, and even those who are strangers to us. Leave the people in your life full of love. Write your love on their hearts. As Joel closed his broadcast he invited the audience to answer this one question...."If you only had an hour to live, who would you call and what would you share with them?"
May you Sweetly Seek:)
In gratitude,
Sarah
