Over this past year I have become so absorbed in pre and perinatal development, in Pre-natal Yoga, and anything having to do with the education of families during the process of pregnancy and postpartum.
This past spring as I attended my Pre-Natal Yoga training, my teachers Katie and Kirsten reminded our group that:
All birth is triumphant.
All birth is heroic.
All birth is traumatic.
As I think of these three statements I feel them filling all corners of my life. Even though I have never birthed a child, I have birthed new ways of thinking, new ways of being, new treasure maps of creating love, and participating in life. These two beautiful souls reminded us that it becomes the task of a birth educator to help clients work with their mind and change the language from pain to sensation and to make peace with intensity. Lean into this intensity, love the sensation and ride out your ability to feel instead of flee. You are triumphant. You are heroic. And you will be faced with the traumas of being a human being.
I sit here today with such anticipation for this new babe. His birth is a reminder that we are all giving birth in our lives. Birth to new stories. Birth to new ways of being. All birth is triumphant. All birth is heroic. All birth is traumatic. Be willing to work with the sensations of life. Lean into the intensity and make peace with the surges of energy in your life. Bring breath and a willing heart for you are being transformed.
May You Sweetly Seek:)
In Gratitude,
Sarah
