"Something my teacher shared with me Sarah is that when we make choices out of implication and obligation we miss the opportunity to truly relate to ourselves and others at a soul level."
As I have been sitting with her ideas, I find myself glancing through my interactions and noticing that sometimes my choices have resulted from a sense of obligation and implication. The egoic voice in my head sometimes says, "You really need to do this because of XYZ."
As I compassionately notice these choices I also notice that there is a lack of honoring going on inside of myself as well as outside of myself. Obligation can be defined as, 'something by which a person is bound or obligated to do certain things.' Implication on the other hand is defined as, 'something implied or suggested as natural.'
I'm grateful today for this new awareness that peeled away another layer of my work. As a beautiful friend of mine always says, "Good to know." I think when we are ready for the next piece of the puzzle it appears with great clarity.
As you gaze into your own life, how are you making choices? Are you doing so out of obligation and implication? And if you answer yes, know that you aren't alone. Perhaps the richer question is, how can I uncover my unconscious motivations to please others and override my own sense of knowing?
May you be Sweetly held as you discover your findings!
In Gratitude,
Sarah
