Last week I was under the weather and wasn't up to my normal Stella visiting schedule, but the moment I felt better, I raced out to see this beauty! I scooped her up and she snuggled in for a gigantic chew on Aunt Sarah's shirt hug! Can you tell I'm nuts about this little nugget?! She's the most enchanting and perfect little slice of heaven I've ever met.
So back to this hugging business. When it comes to a hug, "Go big or go home," as they say! Why hold anything back when you have the opportunity to wrap your arms around another? When you really think about, your arms are directly connected to your heart center, so you're truly sharing a bit of your heart with your hug. Reflective!
Sometimes we go in for the side hug, unsure of our connection to another. Sometimes we fumble with our own emotions and give the good ole' pat on the back hug. During profound moments of joy, there's the racing hug- jump- land in another's arms! In moments of grief we reach out and offer the tender hug. When cuddling with a baby, I think the snuggle hug wins. Whatever the circumstances, hugs are one of the most amazing offerings that we can share with each other.
When was the last time you hugged someone, or even better yet, when was the last time you asked for a hug? It's a proven fact that when we hug, oxytocin levels increase which naturally decreases the "fear" center of our brain.
Hugging contain a magical ingredient of acceptance. Hugging asks us to surrender. Hugging brings us back into the present moment. Hugging allows us to be transparent and authentic! Sounds pretty amazing to me!
May you be inspired today to hug someone from your heart!
