Each year, at the new moon while the sun and moon are in Aquarius, people throughout the world celebrate the beginning of a new year.
This year, which began February 8th, is the Year of the Fire Monkey. Fire monkey years are known for being years of change. The last one occurred in 1956, when there was a spirit of upheaval and mischief in the air. There was a revolution in Hungary and even an overly-raucous new year celebration in Japan. This year, a new year celebration in Hong Kong got out of hand, raising the ire of the Chinese government.
There will be a lot of change this year. No matter what we thought was going to happen, it is likely events will turn out to be quite different. Financial as well as political changes are expected. A pace that is enough to quell boredom even for the most restless soul might be more than some of us can take. Just as we think we’ve found stability, something else is bound to happen to get us scrambling once again!
Nothing bad needs to happen, and it’s far less likely that things will be taken away as long as you remember to be as playful and adaptable as possible.
What can we do to cope with the mischief of the monkey? Be adaptable. Use your talents to find ways to land on your feet, just as this adorable, hard-to-pin-down character does each time it jumps from tree to tree.
When not in the trees, the fire monkey is depicted as climbing the mountain. This year, when things get a little crazy and out of hand, let’s all be grateful we have that mountain to climb. It offers the promise of opportunities taken and potential fulfilled.
Below you will find some information for each Chinese Zodiac Sign. Look for your year of birth, but it you are born in late January or early February, check the date of Lunar New Year to see if you were born before or after the celebration. If you were born before the date of New Year, yours is the animal sign for the previous year. Each paragraph tells you a little about your sign, and then how it will be for you in the Year of the Fire Monkey!
