10 Gifts of the Season: Day 6- Patience
love the questions themselves."
~Ranier Maria Rilke
Patience is the ability to endure and remain open during the moments of our lives when it seems otherwise easier to withdraw and contract.
As I think of patience, I can't help but think of nature. Nature is always offering us glimpses of this invaluable gift. Winter becomes a season of introspection. We watch as the glistening snow sparkles into the first thaw of spring. Spring delicately blooms and then fades into the heat of a summer day. Summer dissipates into the cool days of fall. Fall adorns our hearts with a patchwork of color.
As I walk out into the sunshine, I pause with my hands in prayer. Nature touches my heart. Nature always trumpets my spirit with joy. I touch my physical heart. Patience touches my spiritual heart and I breath into the questions.
Can you feel the questions arising in your own heart? Maybe these questions have been with you since the beginning, or maybe they recently arrived. No matter their length, do you have the willingness to pause and dissolve into the practice of patience?
Our lives are a series of patiently woven together moments. Patience becomes the thread of connection that links us to a sacred pause.
As you move through this holiday season and into the New Year, do you have the patience to wait towards all that is unsolved in your heart? As Rilke invites his readers, "love the questions themselves."
May You Sweetly Seek:)
In Gratitude,
Sarah
