I was meandering through the forrest this morning and as I paused I felt the stillness and charge of energy dancing in the summer breeze. The forest was void of external noise. There was an undercurrent of familiar energy pulsing through the Earth.
I found a beautiful tree to sit under and as I made my way to the forest floor, I encountered the remnants of leaves from last fall. They easily made a blanket for me to sit upon. I took a breath and sighed. I couldn't help but smile. The space was full of freedom and non-identification.
My mind darted towards all of the identities I hold. I am a sister. I am a daughter. I am happy. I am searching. I am joyful. I am sad. I am creative. I am my appearance. As I sat in the stillness of the morning, I remembered a quote, "I AM- two of the most powerful words; for what you put after them shapes your reality."
If I identify myself as a daughter, what happens when my parents are no longer alive? If I identify myself as happy, what happens when I stumble into a pocket of sadness? It is fine to arrange our lives with identifications, but if these are our only sources of identity, there will ultimately be a void of aversion that we seek to fill.
In the serenity of the woods, I began thinking about who I AM. How do these two words define my concept of reality? As I gazed around the forrest, I began to ponder the identity of nature. To me, nature is peace. Nature isn't wrapped up in any titles or labels. Nature isn't stuck in the past or anxious about the future. Nature just is. Nature holds a space for present moment awareness. Trees bud in the Spring. They offer shade in the Summer. They gently let go in the Fall. Trees become stark with snow in the Winter. Nature naturally moves with the cycles of creation. Are you moving with the natural cycle of your life?
On this day, I invite you to find a space that you can connect and journal all of the identities you hold. After you review this list, visualize that you are no longer any of these identities. Who are you at your very core? Can you release your identities? This is a large task to undertake. Offer yourself compassion. Grant yourself new opportunities. Feel the freedom of letting go. Be infinite.
May you Sweetly Seek:)
