Picture this scenario, you desire change in your life. Change oftentimes occurs outside of our comfort zone. When life changes, you need some level of willingness to entertain new opportunities and possibilities. As Williams and Menendez share in their book, Becoming a Professional Life Coach, "What holds most people back from changing is self doubt, fear, distraction , or preoccupation. Coaching helps people focus on what they want and increases their awareness of choice, and trust in their ability to create."
My question to you, is what do you want? What desires are active in your heart? Such seemingly simple and yet fully loaded questions. If you are content with your life at present moment, that's an amazing space to be in, but if you are desiring change, what edges do you need to visit in order to increase your awareness and trust in yourself?
In the Yogic tradition we speak fluently to edges. Edges are the space of not 'too much,' but 'not too little.' Edges are our spaces of significant resistance. An edge might simply be to place your non dominant hand on top of your dominant hand. Simply notice what takes place in this simple exercise. I believe our edges are present to inform us of our resistance. This resistance might be felt physically in our body, or perhaps mentally, or emotionally. We create our own meaning out of the new awarenesses that we glean.
Stepping outside of your comfort zone allows you to banish self doubt, to sit with your fears, to notice your distractions, and your preoccupation with the stories you tell 'Self.' May your willingness to explore the edges in your life lead you towards a more fulfilling experience with the world. Keep focusing on your 'wants' and notice how you can befriend the 'edges' of life.
May You Sweetly Seek:)
In Gratitude,
Sarah
