Elisabeth Kubler Ross was the first to introduce the notion that there are only 2 things that we are 'fearful' of as children. Can you guess what these two things might be? I'll share the scoop; so the first is a fear of heights, and the second is a fear of loud noises. All the other fears we learn along the way come from our environments and the conditioning we receive. If you bring this idea into your life on this 4th of July, what are you afraid of and how is that interfering with your freedom? Are you looking outside of yourself for the freedom you seek within?
Somewhere along the way perhaps we have taken on the notion that we are supposed to be 'afraid.' But what if today you began liberating yourself from these fears? How would your life change? I look into my own life and notice there is a laundry list of fears alive in my life, but if I work through the list one by one I can see remedies available to me. I can see that ultimately it is up to me to create a sense of "Independence" in my own life. No matter the old story I have running through my mind, I have the choice and ability to choose a new conclusion and a new behavior.
As you celebrate with picnics and fireworks, families and friends, I invite you to liberate yourself from the outdated ways of being that no longer support your growth. Touch the fears that are alive in your life and begin a rich dialogue with them. Are they keeping you safe from harm, or do they serve as a metric to keep you stuck.
May we all celebrate today. The land of freedom lies within.
May You Sweetly Seek:)
