Cassie, is the Founder and Creative Director of the handmade customizable jewelry line, Zenned Out. This creative chicky is not only doing what she loves, she is encouraging others to express and explore! Her handmade jewelry line has catapulted her creative endeavors in various directions! Throughout her work, you can feel her artistic influence shining through. I've had the honor of owning several of Cassie's pieces and they are nothing short of modern day goddess wear!
As you read through her Q&A, may you be re-inspired to celebrate your creative life! This business owning beauty and her innovative team are inspiring the world with an exquisite handmade jewelry line, a thoughtful blog, and a fabulous Etsy site! Lets take a peak into the life of this woo woo loving creative!
1. Who are you and how has Zenned out helped you to evolve as an artist?
I'm Cassie, and I'm a woo woo loving creative who enjoys making inspiring jewelry. Zenned Out started as a creative outlet for me, not as a career, I was full time art teacher when I started. When I took the leap to make Zenned Out a real job, I allowed the pressure of it really hinder my creative side. The love and art of creating escaped me a bit, I got side tracked by making it viable. Having a few years under my belt, I feel more comfortable as a business owner and have allowed my intuition to take more of a roll as I see the creativity circling back. Now I see my whole business, not just the jewelry side of it, as an outlet for my vision as a creative soul, and it is exciting!
2. This month has a heavy duty focus on love, what are you LOVING in the Zenned out Collection for Valentine's Day?
Valentines day is actually my birthday, so it is an extra special month for me! I've always viewed February as a month for self care and self love, which is why I love our jewelry so much, it's all about believing in yourself and having compassion for yourself. My current faves are our new bangles (click here to check them out!) I love wearing them because you can layer up lots of little sweet reminders that have a nice little jingle when you walk. These hidden messages are sweet reminders to inspire you throughout the day. They remind me of the hidden messages within each of our lives.
3. What's the biggest vision you have for Zenned out in 2016?
Oh boy, this is a BIG question, because I am kind of a goal setting fanatic! I'll go with the vision that I'm the most nervous about because I need practice saying it more :) I've been yearning to help other creatives have the tools they need to grow their creative businesses. I want to offer online workbooks, videos, and blog posts to help other creatives feel empowered to share their creative gifts with the world and give actionable tools to help them make money from it.
4. Do you have a daily mantra that you connect with?
I'd say my top three are, "comparison is the thief of joy", "gratitude changes everything", and "breathe".
5. What do you love most about your day?
I love that everyday is so different! Everyday I'm confronted with different and exciting tasks, I get to wear a lot of hats, and I like that most of the time. If I want a break from making jewelry I can work on social media, write a newsletter, or educate myself on a topic I want to learn more about to help the business grow.
6. Who has most influenced your your creative journey?
My Dad and My Grandma. My grandma was a huge influence on me growing up, she was an entrepreneur too and a very spiritual woman. She's where I get my love all things woo woo. I have fond memories of my Dad waking my sister and I up late at night to go star gazing or to see a comet, this is where my love of the stars and moon come from. I lost both of these loves last year within a short time of each other. As I tumble through cycles of grief and begin to slowly feel moments of normalcy creep back into me my drive to create in their honor becomes even stronger.
7. What song are you currently singing in your car?
Oh my, this is embarrassing. In my car CD player (yes CD player!) is Presidents of the United States of America. I've totally been rocking out to the song Peaches. I grew up listening to a lot of 90's alternative with my dad and since losing him last year have got out a lot of our old favorites.
8. A word of wisdom to our readers about doing what they love?
First, if you're on the fence about starting something new, do it, go for it, start today. Second, just because you love it doesn't mean that it will always be easy. Anticipate the hard parts and educate yourself to overcome them.
9. How can our readers connect with you on your website and social media?
We've got exciting things happening on the blog, so I encourage readers to come check it out at http://www.zennedout.com/blog/ We've got a great line up of topics this year from mudras, to using crystal grids, to exploring the negativity bias.
