~Neem Karoli Baba (Maharajji)
Now is the time to get clear about what stands in our way of loving one another. There is a plan, that we aren't always privy to. This is where our power comes in, we have the power to succumb to fear or stand tall in love. In my opinion our power always rests on the wings of love, not the tails of fear. Fear runs away with our presence, while love invites understanding. Fear tags into the ring, anxiety, revenge, greed and hate, while love sits unto itself-offering compassion, understanding, gratitude, and openness. Fear preys on the mind, while love relies on the heart. Fear remains in a cycle of constant judgment while love expands and invites miracles. Fear grows hate and love articulates unity. Fear holds grudges and love forgives.
I don't profess to be a political commentator, or a learned worldly scholar, but today I needed a space to write the words in my heart. My head and heart don't understand, but I have to trust that there is a higher power working behind the scenes. My body is full of emotions...I feel the sadness, the division, the terror, the walls, the uncertainty in these times of life, so I look to words for inspiration and meaning. This time in our history reminds me of the old Cherokee story of The Two Wolves that live within each of us:
An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life. “A fight is going on inside me,” he said to the boy.
“It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil – he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.” He continued, “The other is good – he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you – and inside every other person, too.”
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?”
The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”
As a people, may we consciously feed the goodness, may we heal each other, may our mantras resound in love, and our words echo hope. May we remember that we are love, and that love is truly the most powerful medicine. Be love in action my friends. Reserve a space for love. Honor this love and claim it as you. Heal the world with your love.
May You Sweetly Seek:)
In Gratitude,
Sarah
