― Jim Morrison
From Wallace's banter I progress forward to a recent coaching session I had with my coach Michael. As we went through several of my concerns, the issue of freedom arose.
He thoughtfully closed his eyes and began to speak straight to my heart. "Sarah, there is a difference between being handed your freedom and taking your freedom. What would happen if you changed your internal dialogue?"
I felt the tears sting my eyes. He had hit a soft spot. This soft spot was full of arguing with my reality. It was steeped in self judgement.
"Sweetie, what if you added peace to where you are? Can you see that no one is going to hand you your freedom? You have to go inside buttercup!" His Southern charm made me smile.
William Wallace's speech, Van Morrison's quote and Michael's session offered me the opportunity to attend to my vitally important relationship with freedom. As Michael shared, "Freedom is ours to take!" Van Morrison reminds us that our greatest freedom is to be who we really are! And William Wallace reminds us to be passionately convicted about our dedication to freedom.
As you look around your life, are you waiting for someone to hand you the keys to some magical kingdom, or are you convinced that you will be taking your freedom with you wherever you go?! Up until the other day I hadn't observed my relationship to freedom, but after a fierce coaching session with Michael, I can say that as I continually add gratitude and acceptance to the equation; freedom is mine for the taking!
May curiosity extend into your life as you ponder your relationship to freedom! Begin your personal revolution today!
