"Reading a good book Miss?"
I poked my head up from the self help book I was reading and smiled. "Actually it's pretty interesting," I exclaimed.
"What's it about?" he asked with a quizzical grin.
"It's about creating a life that you love."
"Hmmm, well I'll be. I never knew you had to read a book about how to do that." His chuckle bellowed up and filled the office.
I giggled to myself as I thought about his comment. "I never thought about it that way. I guess I am just looking towards others for inspiration. How about you and your wife, what's your secret to creating a life you love?"
"Well, I think it's pretty easy Miss...best I can tell you from my 89 years here it's about just doing what you love. And some days there will be things that you don't love so much, but I've been really blessed to have Alice by my side. She's my high school sweetheart. We've raised kids, lost a child, survived cancer, moved around the country and many of our friends have passed. We always made a pact with one another that we wouldn't wait for things to be perfect, we'd just do them. My parents always waited for the conditions to be favorable and they were riddled with regrets when they got older. That's just horse shit in my book. If you do it now, you won't have to regret it later."
I sat there with the biggest grin on my face. His real life account of living was more than any self help book could offer. I sat mesmerized by his tales. He filled in more parts of his story while he waited for Alice to re-appear.
She walked out of the office and their eyes locked and I swear sparks still flew between them. "I'm all set George. Let's go get some ice cream now to celebrate."
"Yes my love, lets go celebrate."
I watched them walk out arm in arm. Celebrating this very moment of their lives. Content I sat back and filled myself with George's stories. Don't delay my friends:). Now is a beautiful moment to celebrate!
May You Sweetly Seek:)
In Gratitude,
